The 2026 Formula One season opens at Melbourne’s Albert Park in early March, followed by the Chinese Grand Prix.
Round three takes place at Japan’s iconic Suzuka Circuit, renowned for its figure-eight layout and devoted fan base.
In mid-April, the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix returns under the lights in Jeddah, continuing its place as one of the most visually striking races on the calendar.
Earlier slot for the F1 Canadian Grand Prix
One relevant scheduling change is the new date for the Canadian Grand Prix, now set for May 24, just after the Miami race. The shift, nearly a month earlier than in 2025, helps streamline Formula One’s European leg during the summer.
However, the 2026 Canadian Grand Prix shares its date with another motorsport classic: the Indianapolis 500.
Due to the time difference between Montreal and Indianapolis, both events will overlap. According to the specialized F1 news outlet GPblog, however, this overlap will occur only once every five years due to calendar shifts, making 2026 a rare year when motorsports enthusiasts will need to choose between two major auto racing events in North America.
European summer of F1 racing with one big addition
The F1 Monaco Grand Prix kicks off the European rounds, followed by Spain’s race at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. The British Grand Prix returns to Silverstone in early July, maintaining its traditional mid-summer slot.
A significant update to the 2026 schedule is the introduction of a new street race in Madrid. This Spanish capital event replaces Imola, which drops off the calendar after hosting the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix in previous seasons.
The Madrid race, set for September 13, will close the European segment of the championship, presenting a new urban challenge for drivers and teams alike.
Flyaway races and a final triple-header
After Europe, the Formula 1 tour continues through Asia and the Americas, culminating in a high-profile triple-header featuring Las Vegas, Qatar, and Abu Dhabi.
As in 2025, this season, two Formula 1 races will be held on Saturday: the Las Vegas F1 Grand Prix and the Azerbaijan F1 Grand Prix in Baku, to accommodate Azerbaijan’s National Day.
