The Milano Cortina 2026 Paralympic Winter Games will bring together around 600–665 Para athletes in a celebration of sport and inclusion. They’ll compete for 79 medals across six disciplines: Para alpine skiing, Para biathlon, Para cross-country skiing, Para ice hockey, Para snowboarding, and wheelchair curling.
These Games are significant, marking the 50th anniversary of the first-ever Winter Paralympics. It’s also a return to Italy, two decades after Torino hosted the Winter Paralympics in 2006.
For the first time in Paralympic Winter Games history, wheelchair curling will include a mixed doubles event. The mixed-team tournament continues too, offering even more competition and excitement.
The Opening Ceremony will take place in the historic Arena di Verona, setting a dramatic stage for the start of the Games. The Closing Ceremony will be held in the renovated Cortina Curling Stadium—a venue with a rich Olympic history, having been used during the 1956 Winter Games.
As fans look ahead, these Games promise top-level competition and a powerful display of Paralympic spirit in a beautifully storied part of Italy.
