Event Details

The Jungfrau‑Marathon is a mountain marathon beginning in Interlaken and finishing at the Eigergletscher station, set beneath the iconic Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau peaks, in the Swiss Alps. It’s known for its enduring uphill profile, offering a rare blend of endurance challenge and alpine scenery. Participation is capped at around 4,000 runners due to its popularity and high altitude gain, making it a sought‑after race on many runners’ travel destination wish lists. Entry includes timed chip tracking, public-transport access across the Bernese Oberland region around race day, and dedicated race logistics.

Beyond the finish, the Jungfrau Region offers world-class tourist attractions. Visitors can ride the Jungfraubahn to the “Top of Europe” platform or visit the Sphinx Observatory for panoramic views of Aletsch Glacier. Nearby sights include the Schilthorn/Piz Gloria, Staubbach Falls, and scenic villages such as Wengen, Grindelwald, and Lauterbrunnen, ideal for post‑race recovery hikes, cultural experiences, and exploring Swiss mountain heritage.
